There is some debate...

... over a number of things today. I'll probably come back to Wendy-gate later - when we have a verdict.

First up though, I note various sources reporting Sarah Palin's speech at the Republican convention to be a resounding success. Like most others I was taken by surprise by the announcement that she was to be John McCain's running mate. And, indeed, I was slightly sceptical that she would be the right person to take on Joe Biden in the VP debate. However, after last night's performance, I'd suggest she may have confounded those sceptics.

Apparently another debate is also on the cards closer to home. It seems the candidates in the race to replace Wendy Alexander as leader of the Labour group of MSPs in the Scottish Parliament are to have a televised debate on BBC2 tonight - at 11pm. I'm sure that'll be an interesting extended edition of Newsnight Scotland...

I'm quite happy - indeed, eager - to engage in debate with others when the topic provides opportunity to do so. I like knowing who I'm debating with and I'm fed up with some abusive anonymous comments so I've disabled those comments for awhile. If you want to comment, log in - it only takes a minute.
